Sillimanite refractory bricks are sillimanite mineral-based refractory bricks produced by the high-temperature sintering method or slurry casting method. Sillimanite brick manufacturing has very good high-temperature performance. Sillimanite is a natural high-grade refractory mineral, After high-temperature calcining, sillimanite will transform into mullite and free SiO2. Sillimanite bricks and mullite bricks have higher refractoriness under load compared with fireclay bricks. Sillimanite bricks have a dense structure, when applied in glass furnaces, glass liquid does not tend to form bubbles. So sillimanite bricks are suitable for feeding canisters, clay barrels, former blocks, and feeder bowls.

The raw material composition of sillimanite bricks
Sillimanite bricks are made of sillimanite, andalusite, and sintered mullite as the main raw materials, with some ultrafine powder and binder added, and are formed by high-pressure molding or vibration pressure molding, and fired in a tunnel kiln. The firing temperature is 1390~1400℃, and the heat preservation time is 10~16h. The proportion of sillimanite bricks: 30%~40% sillimanite, 35%~55% andalusite + mullite, 10%~15% special grade alumina, and 5%~10% raw clay.
Application of sillimanite refractory bricks
Sillimanite refractory bricks are mainly used for forming flow holes in glass tank kilns, blast furnace linings, furnace throats, and ceramic industrial kiln furniture.
Characteristics of sillimanite bricks
Densità apparente: The bulk density of sillimanite bricks is large, generally between 2.3-2.5g/cm’.
Refractory: The refractoriness of sillimanite bricks is high, generally between 1770-1830℃.
Load softening temperature: The load softening temperature of sillimanite bricks is generally between 1500-1650℃.
Thermal shock resistance: Sillimanite bricks have good thermal shock resistance and can withstand large temperature changes.
Corrosion resistance: Sillimanite bricks have good corrosion resistance and can withstand the erosion of various acidic and alkaline substances.
