The main component of high chrome refractory brick is Cr2O3. The low wettability with slag and the high viscosity after reaction with slag endow high chrome brick with excellent corrosion resistance. Characteristics of high chrome refractory bricks
Excellent resistance to slag erosion.
Cr2Ó3 material itself has good slag erosion resistance, which is mainly attributed to the following points: (1) The solubility of Cr2Ó3 in coal slag is very low, thus ensuring the integrity of the material;
(2) Most slags have poor wettability on Cr2O3 materials, thus slowing down the dissolution rate of Cr2Ó3 in slag;
(3) After the Cr2Ó3 material dissolves in slag, it will increase the viscosity of slag, and then form a uniform protective layer on the surface of the material, blocking the pores of the material and inhibiting slag penetration.
Excellent high-temperature performance
The melting points of the main components of high chromium refractory bricks, Cr2O3, Al2O3, and ZrO2, are approximately 2400, 2050, and 2700°C, respectively. After high-temperature treatment at 1700t, Cr2O3, and Al2O3 form a well-crystallized and continuous aluminum-chromium solid solution, so the high chromium refractory material has very high high-temperature strength.
Good anti-scouring performance
The formation of aluminum-chromium solid solution and the combustion-promoting effect of ZiO2 make the high-chromium material have lower apparent porosity and higher compressive strength (up to 150 MPa or even above 200 MPa), so the high-chromium refractory material has good anti-scouring performance.
Good thermal shock resistance and thermal spalling resistance
Due to the phase transformation toughening effect of ZrO2, the thermal shock resistance and thermal spalling resistance of high chromium refractory bricks are improved.
Application of high chrome bricks
High chrome bricks (Cr2O3≥90%) are mainly used in key parts of the coal chemical industry, chemical industry kilns, alkali-free glass fiber kilns, waste incinerators, gasification furnaces, and other kilns; chrome corundum bricks are mainly used for carbon black furnaces, copper smelting furnace linings, glass kiln molten pools, steel rolling heating furnace slides, steel tapping platforms.
